2nd Annual Colorado Custom Guitar Festival at Swallow Hill Music Hall

Saturday, May 14 Daniels Hall, 10am - 5pm
71 East Yale, Denver

The Colorado Custom Guitar Festival is a combined effort of the Colorado Luthiers group and Swallow Hill Music Association. Its intent is to present hand-crafted, collector quality, custom stringed instruments in a comfortable music friendly environment.

Although it is titled as a guitar festival, it is in fact a celebration of all stringed instruments in general. Festival visitors can evaluate and purchase a variety of guitars, as well as autoharps, mandolins, ukuleles, and many other instruments. These instruments are objects of art to be enjoyed for their visual, as well as musical, qualities. They are quite different from the standard production run instruments commonly available. Many of the luthiers build multiple types of stringed instruments. If you don't see what you want to buy on the show floor, most likely one of the builders can make it for you. After all, that is what custom-built instruments are all about: creating that one special delight just for you.

In addition to exhibiting a wide array of instruments for your testing and purchase, all the luthiers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about building custom instruments. You will learn that there is no one "right" way to create these wonders, and each builder has his or her own individual approach to the process.

Throughout the day there will be workshops that are also mini-concerts. Our performers are professional musicians who in addition to providing beautiful music will talk about the instruments that they are playing. They will also be speaking about their individual approaches to music and performance. We promise you a wealth of information as well as listening pleasure.

Members of the Swallow Hill Music Association will be available to provide information about their world-class music school. The depth and breadth of the classes available are amazing, as are the skills and experience of the instructors.

So browse the displays, partake of the workshop/concerts, find out about the school, and enjoy your time at the Second Annual Colorado Custom Guitar Festival.
