Alan Dunwell has been building instruments since his teens and
doing so professionally since 1994. Current emphasis is on
acoustic flat top guitars and F-style mandolins. Alan brings
his hard science background into the building process while
maintaining the tradition of hand builders and precision
woodworking. All tops and backs are hand plate tuned using
Chladni modes and tap tuning to bring out the best in each
assembled instrument. Alan formed and is the current head of
the Colorado Luthier Group. He is a member of the Guild of
American Luthier and the Association of Stringed Instrument
Artisans.
